The Department of Applied Linguistics, the Department of Pedagogy, and the Department of English and American Studies at the University of Gdańsk, Poland, in cooperation with ELLMEnet (Early Language Learning and Multilingual Education Network), are proud to welcome researchers from around the world to contribute to the 4th International Conference on Early Language Learning and Multilingual Education in Early Childhood.

In an increasingly interconnected and globalized world, the significance of multilingualism in the earliest years of a child’s development cannot be overstated. Acquiring multiple languages during the formative stages of life not only enhances cognitive and linguistic abilities but also fosters a deeper appreciation for diverse cultures and perspectives. This rapidly growing area of research has attracted considerable attention from scholars, educators, and policymakers, as the benefits of early multilingual exposure extend beyond linguistic competence to encompass broader cognitive, sociocultural, and educational dimensions.

The 4th ELLME Conference will serve as a pivotal platform for exploring the complex interplay among language acquisition, cognitive development, and social and family engagement. Promoted by ELLMEnet, this international event aims to analyse and discuss issues related to multilingualism — in its broadest sense — from birth to the beginning of compulsory schooling (typically at 6–7 years of age), as well as in the early grades of primary education (Grades 1–3, approximately up to age 9).

Researchers, PhD students, and practitioners are invited to present research- or practice-oriented contributions related to children from birth to approximately 9 years of age, situated in any multilingual context (second language, foreign language, additional language, minority language, heritage language, sign language, etc.).

W KRĘGU KREATYWNOŚCI:
INNOWACYJNE PROJEKTOWANIE EDUKACJI

która odbędzie się w dniach 9–10 października 2025 roku.

Konferencja ma na celu wymianę doświadczeń, prezentację nowoczesnych metod dydaktycznych oraz omówienie badań naukowych związanych z kreatywnością i innowacjami w edukacji polonistycznej i nauczaniu języków obcych. Chcemy stworzyć przestrzeń łączącą teorię z praktyką, dlatego zaplanowaliśmy:

• wykłady plenarne prowadzone przez uznanych ekspertów; otwarte panele dyskusyjne;
• sesje posterowe;
• praktyczne warsztaty dla nauczycieli i uczniów.

Główne tematy konferencji:

1. Innowacyjne metody dydaktyczne i ich wpływ na efektywność nauczania.
2. Technologie cyfrowe w edukacji – szanse i wyzwania.
3. Wykorzystanie nowoczesnych metod/technik nauczania uwzględniające kreatywność i interdyscyplinarność.
4. Rozwój kompetencji nauczycieli w zakresie innowacyjnych metod pracy.
5. Edukacja zorientowana na przyszłość – modele kształcenia w kontekście zmian społecznych i technologicznych (m.in. gamifikacja, flipped classroom, neuroscience).

Second Language Learning and Teaching:
Facing new challenges

SSLLT 2025

Kalisz, Poland, 2-4 June, 2025

This is the second conference that is organized under the auspices of Studies in Second Language Learning and Teaching, one of the leading journals in the field of linguistics and education. The main aim of the event is to showcase the latest theoretical proposals and empirical findings related to second language learning and teaching in a variety of educational contexts and at different educational levels, with a particular emphasis on new challenges that researchers and practitioners are currently confronted with. The conference will also constitute an important opportunity to bridge the gap between theory, research and everyday instructional practices. 

The event will be organized by the Department of English Studies, Faculty of Pedagogy and Fine Arts, Adam Mickiewicz University, Kalisz, Poland. The chair of the Organizing Committee is Professor Mirosław Pawlak, Editor in Chief of SSLLT (pawlakmi@amu.edu.pl).

Konferencja MMDT 2024

Zakład Dydaktyki Kultury i Mediów ILS UAM organizuje w dniach 17-18.05.2024 dziewiątą międzynarodową konferencję naukową MMDT: MultiMeDialecTransaltion. Jest to cykliczna konferencja, której tematem przewodnim są związki pomiędzy lingwistyką, mediami, komunikacją i studiami nad przekładem. Konferencje z cyklu MMDT organizowane są od 2002r., a ich poprzednie edycje odbyły się między innymi w Finlandii, we Włoszech i na Litwie.
