Information for the authors

The Editing Board of „Neofilolog” encourages submissions of papers devoted to linguistics, glottodidactics and language acquisition. Please make sure you follow the guidelines specified below while you submit the manuscript. Positive outcome of the reviewing procedure is required for the text to be published. For principles of reviewing please consult the section (Reviewing Procedure).

To be positively refereed, the text has to be compliant with substantive requirements (choice of topic, way of conducting the argument and presentation of empirical data), technical (appropriate text organization) and formal (delivery of article’s electronic version to the editor’s office along with appropriate data). Editorial staff inform that all the cases of scientific dishonesty (plagiarism, autoplagiarism, suppression of others’ input in the presented in article research or editing) will be revealed and information about these will be given to the relevant entities (institutions where authors work, scientific associations, scientific editors’ associations, etc.).

 

1. Substantive recommendations
Proposed articles should be written in academic style which requires that the quoted content and examples given are to be documented on the basis of the source and each opinion borrowed from another author to be summarized, discussed or interpreted typologically with an appropriate distance. If an article includes a research component, conclusions should be formulated according to chosen research methodology (qualitative and quantitative analysis, case study, etc.).

2. Technical instructions
2.1. An author who submits a proposal of an article to the magazine “Neofilolog” declares that his article has not been published yet and is not proffered as a publication to another magazine. Also in order to prevent from „ghostwriting (i.e. when a person makes a significant contribution to the publication but he/she is not listed as one or the authors of this publication or this person was omitted in the acknowledgements) and/or „guest authorship” (i.e. the contribution to the article is minimal or none but a person is listed as a co-author of the article) the author/authors of the publication are required to send a written declaration, if an article is accepted by the reviewers (→see declaration form).

2.2. Editorial staff inform that all cases of scientific dishonesty (plagiarism, autoplagiarism, suppression of others’ input in the presented in article research or editing) will be revealed and information about these will be given to the relevant entities (institutions where authors work, scientific associations, scientific editors’ associations, etc.).

2.3. A sent file should be saved as one of the Microsoft Word formats (doc, docx) or RTF. Graphics or special characters are available in the enclosed graphics file in high definition. An author was given a written permission for their use, if they are or may be one’s property. If graphics or special characters are applicable, a permission will also be submitted to the magazine’s publisher.

2.4. An article should be between 10 and 15 pages of computer printout long (line spacing of 1,5; fond Times New Roman with high of 12 points.).

2.5. Text of the title and subsequent headlines should be written in bold, adjusted to the left, with defined line spacing of 1,5 points. Title headlines for the article and separate paragraphs should be written with a gap of one blank line over the main text and separated from the preceding text with one blank line.

2.6. The top, bottom, left and right margins should be set in the page settings as default 2,5 cm each. The default tabulators are 1,25 cm each. (Each paragraph should begin with an indentation.)

2.7. Main title: Times New Roman 14 (in bold, centre [Ctrl+E]).

2.8. An abstract in English should be enclosed to the article (translation of the title and 3 – 4 sentences of the summary, fond: Times New Roman 12).

2.9. Abstracts should be placed under the main title, written in size of 10 points and with line spacing between the title and the continuous text of 1,5 space.

2.10. Keywords (in bold, fold: Times New Roman 12) with line spacing should be placed under the abstract: after colon key words in English and słowa kluczowe (bold, fold: Times New Roman 12): after colon key words in Polish.

2.11. Formatting of the bibliography and footnotes: All the positions should be arranged alphabetically (according to the Latin alphabet) in the enclosed bibliography. All the references mentioned in the article ought to be included in the back bibliography. Another or not cited positions cannot be mentioned. While referring to the Internet sources only these references should be taken into account which have complete following bibliographical data: author’s name and surname, title of the article, chapter with a piece of information about a page of book or magazine than an extract was citied from, mentioned and a website address it may be found on (“http” or “www” with a date of the last visit): [DW] [LV= last visit], e.g. www.pbs.org/wgbh/amex/mwt/timeline/index.html LV 02.01.2015.

2.12. Quotes should be placed in the quotation marks (in brackets, please give the name of the author, the date of the position referred to and the page, e.g. Komorowska 2012: 15). Short citation of names and dates should be written in brackets next to the given view or information related to general views and writings as a whole: one author, e.g., Stern, 1999, two authors (Stern and Jones, 2000), three authors e.g. (Uhert, Kowalski and Nowak, 2005), four and more authors, e.g. (Smith et al., 1990 or Smith et al., 1990).

2.13. Footnotes should be numbered sequentially using Arabic numerals in the superscript. Font: Times New Roman 10, first line indented: 0.7. Please do not use bibliographic footnotes, this information is mandatory in the continuous text of the article.

2.14. In case of giving thanks, please do not place them on the first page of the text, e.g. as a footnote to the title. They should be included at the end of the text before the bibliography.

2.15. Tables, schemes, diagrams should be numbered and entitled. If they come from one’s writing please provide the source of their borrowing or adaptation (in brackets after the title). They should be written with the text defined according to the principle: justification to the left or to the right with the digits in the columns, font 12 pt. Times New Roman, line spacing of 1.5 pt. in JPG format. The illustrations should be black and white; in case of colored illustrations there is a risk of print illegibility due to grayscale selection.

2.16. Proposals for articles should be provided on the electronic medium (disc or e-mail) to the appropriate editor. Please include the following data: the name of the authors, the institution which they represent, the address of the institution and mailing address (traditional mail), and the electronic address or telephone number.
